Family Law Mediation
Mediation is a voluntary process by which the parties seek to resolve their divorce or other family law matter such as custody and visitation without the stress and high costs of going to court.
The role of the mediator is to facilitate an agreement between the parties. The mediator is retained as an objective neutral and does not represent either party. The role of the mediator is to facilitate an agreement between the parties which will be put into writing as a final Marital Settlement Agreement. The mediation is conducted at the mediator’s office or can be conducted at a separate neutral location.
Ms. Lopez is a trained mediator. After several years of representing divorce clients, she saw the negative impact a divorce can have on clients including the parties’ children and extended family. Ms. Lopez is a strong proponent of mediation and encourages mediation as a process that works especially when done correctly.
